Transfer Deadline Day

This has probably been the busiest transfer deadline day for Blues ever and don't we just need it. Over the past few weeks we have seen player after player leave the club - Bartley, Burn, Elliot, Mullins have all left St Andrews. So we were desperate for renewed strength in the squad and Clark has been a busy man.

Aaron Martin, Tom Thorne, Tyler Blackett and Federico Macheda have all been signed on loan deals in the last 24 hours who go alongside Emyr Huws and Albert Rusnak in our signings this January.

Macheda
So what do we know about these players - well not a lot. Macheda had that one goal against Aston Villa back in 2008 when everyone thought he was going to be the next Ronaldo, since then he has scored just 6 more senior goals, including 3 at Doncaster. So he doesn't have much goalscoring prowess but he maybe just the thing we need to go up front with big Zig and Lovenkrands.

Aaron Martin

I remember Aaron Martin in his Southampton days, used to be a decent defender from what I can remember but he has quite big boots to fill from the gap that Bartley has left in the Blues back 4.

Blackett and Thorne are really unknown quantities except I remember signing Thorne for my Birmingham team on Football Manager 2014 and he got injured for 4 months in the first game - lets hope that doesn't happen in real life.

Rusnak
I have done the usual YouTube scouting for Rusnak and Huws, there is very little on these young Man City players but what I have seen seems decent enough.

We all know of Birmingham's financial problems but I think we can be hopeful of these signings and very thankful for Clark's hard work over the past couple of days. The next few games are going to be hard for Blues, a lot of new faces in the team but we need to give this young side time to gel.

The February fixtures look tough for the new side - Derby, Charlton, Watford, Huddlesfield and Blackpool all coming up next. I am going to put my neck on the line and suggest a mid-table finish for us this season. Relegation will be looming but I think these new loan signings are just enough to push Blues on further.

Introduction

I have been told I talk at my girlfriend too much about all things Birmingham so I have decided to write a blog instead to shut me up!

A little introduction to myself. I am a student at Oxford Brookes and have been a Birmingham fan all my life whilst living on the Isle of Wight. I have never lived that close to Birmingham so I haven't been able to go and watch the games but I make sure I keep up to date every matchday with what is going on. I have stuck with Birmingham through the good times of winning the Carling Cup, to the bad days that we are experiencing now. I have been know to criticise dear old Lee Clark but to be honest given the situation we are facing and having no money whats to ever he is doing a pretty good job. However I do think that once the board issues are resolved he will be replaced.

So I hope to blog about general goings on at St Andrews. I am not always informed 100% as I live in Oxford and have a full-time degree to do but I will be completely honest.
